At Museums.com, the security of our users, their data, and their transactions is a top priority. We are committed to providing a safe environment for buying, selling, and showcasing fine art by using industry-standard security practices and proactive measures to protect your information.
Museums.com uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption site-wide. This ensures that all data transmitted between your browser and our servers—including login details, payment information, and personal data—is encrypted and protected from interception.
Look for the padlock symbol in your browser’s address bar to confirm your connection is secure.
We encrypt sensitive user data using advanced encryption protocols both in transit and at rest. Your personal and transactional data is stored in secure environments with restricted access.
Only authorized personnel with a need-to-know basis are granted access to this data, and access is monitored and logged.
We offer Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) as an optional security feature for users. By enabling 2FA on your account, you add an extra layer of protection during login, requiring a second verification method (such as a mobile code or authentication app) in addition to your password.
We strongly recommend enabling 2FA—especially for artist, gallery, or admin accounts.
We use trusted, PCI-compliant third-party services to handle all payment processing:
◉ Stripe for credit card and ACH payments
◉ Escrow.com for high-value transactions over $2,000
◉ Cryptocurrency-based escrow (BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT), securely handled in-house using multi-signature wallets and cold storage practices
Museums.com does not store or have access to your full credit card or bank account details.
We actively monitor accounts for suspicious behavior and use automated tools to detect potential fraud, impersonation, or abuse.
If we detect unusual activity, we may:
◉ Temporarily freeze the account
◉ Require additional identity verification
◉ Contact you for confirmation
◉ Block IPs or devices associated with abuse
If you believe you have found a security vulnerability on Museums.com, we encourage you to contact us responsibly at security@museums.com. Please provide as much detail as possible so we can investigate and take corrective action promptly.
We take all reports seriously and appreciate the help of ethical hackers and developers who support a more secure internet.
While we do our part to protect your data, security is a shared responsibility. We encourage all users to:
◉ Use strong, unique passwords
◉ Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
◉ Log out after using shared or public devices
◉ Be cautious of phishing emails or suspicious messages
◉ Avoid sharing login credentials with anyone
We continuously review and improve our security policies and infrastructure to keep up with evolving threats and best practices in cybersecurity. This includes regular audits, penetration testing, and staff training.
If you have any questions about how your data is protected, or if you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact our security team immediately:
